a chilling Halloween dessert to make, simply!

chilled brains
*serves about 8 to 10

1/2 gallon of vanilla ice cream
frozen blueberries or raspberries
- thawed slightly
Lg package of red Jell-O gelatin

Scoop out (w/ice cream scoop) single portions of "brain" into individual paper Halloween decorated bowls... (a bit larger than a small child's fist in size) Cover each "brain in the bowl" with some waxed paper to keep them nice. Put the bowls into the freezer so the ice cream will get really icy.

Meanwhile, prepare a large packet of Jell-O (any red kind) and have the mixture "set" in a large plastic bowl in your refrigerator. A few minutes before presentation, mix the firm Jell-o so it's lumpy in appearance. Remove the bowls of ice cream and spoon the Jell-O around the "brains"  Blend the thawed raspberries or blueberries (thawed frozen works the best) in a small bowl until mashed a bit. Slightly spoon and drizzle the berries on the brain to resemble the vein look of a brain...

 *the Last time I made this I purchased some inexpensive waxed lips & really bloody gum ball eyes to garnish the area I served the brains in... letting the children know that the brain was safe to eat since the lips, eyes etc., had been carefully removed as they could see...

frightful Halloween recipes 

breakfast:


Puss filled, green
 diseased &
mangled limbs
Serving Size : 4

1 doz sm sausage links
8 eggs  7 Tbs. milk
1 tsp salt   1/4 tsp pepper
green food coloring
1 tbs. butter or margarine
1/4 cup chopped onions

Prepare the sausage links according to the directions on the package. When they are done and cooled a bit, carefully slice them in half lengthwise.  Wrap them in aluminum foil and set aside.

 In a medium bowl, combine the eggs, milk, salt and pepper.  Beat with a
whisk until frothy. Slowly add food coloring, 1 drop at a time, until you
reach your desired shade of
gangrene green.

Heat butter or margarine in a large
 frying pan over medium heat
until the butter begins to sizzle.
 Add the chopped onions (toenails) and
sauté for a few minutes.
Then add the egg mixture to the pan.
Stir the egg mixture with
a long-handled fork or spatula until the eggs are firm and not too runny.

When the eggs are almost done, add the sausage links (little legs) and cook just until the sausage is heated. Transfer  the Gangrenous Scrambled Legs to individual plates or a serving
platter.

You can sprinkle shredded
 mozzarella cheese on top of
hot eggs and - voila! -
in just a minute your
 diseased twisted limbs
are nice and pus-covered. 

Lady Bug Use a pair of black sweats and black sweat shirt.. Use a large piece
of poster board or cardboard and cut out a large oval. Paint it red with
black dots. Staple black elastic pieces (in a loop) onto the board to make
arm holes. For the antenna attach craft pipe cleaners with black pom poms on the ends to a headband. Don't forget to wear black shoes!

recipe for making blood!


1/2 bottle of light corn syrup
very hot water
squirt of liquid soap
red food coloring

Pour light corn syrup into a bowl and add hot water sparingly, adding and
stirring until you have the right consistency. Add a squirt of liquid soap to
make it the blood easy to clean off later. Tint with red food coloring.
Store in the refrigerator until ready to use. Smear on desired area as needed!

Yummy Orange Rice
Crispy 'Pumpkin Treats'

 3 tabs margarine
 1 pkg -10 oz - 40 -) reg. size marshmallows
or 4 c of the miniatures
 6 c Kellogg's Rice
Krispies cereal

 Melt margarine in large saucepan
over low heat. Add marshmallows
and stir  until completely melted.
Remove from heat.
(tint your pumpkins
orange by mixing red & orange food coloring ... one drop at a time until desired color)

Add Kellogg's Rice Krispies cereal. Stir until well coated.

 Measure 1/2 cup warm mixture and shape into pumpkins. Makes 12.
Create eyes, nose and mouth
with candy such as noses made w/ candy corns!  Use
 Place on waxed paper to dry.
